How to write an electronic prescription?

⚠️ In order write prescriptions your organisation admin should have assigned you a prescriber seat, your organisation should have been set up and validated, you should have set up your Prescriber account and you should have added a verified patient

Search for your drug

  1. Select New Prescription on your patient's profile

  2. Search for your medication. The default selection is to search by Active Ingredient, however you may also search by Brand, write an Extemporaneous Script, or search your custom drug database.

    • Prescribe By Active Ingredient/Brand

      • Search In Bar (toggle Search by Brand to search by Brand Name)

      • Select the drug from list

      • Select the Product Pack​

      • Choose the patient's funding type:

        • Choose a PBS Code if PBS reimbursed

        • Leave PBS Code blank and check either Private Prescription or Unlisted RPBS Medication for these funding types​​

    • Prescribe Custom Drugs

      • Select the Custom​ tab

      • Search by either brand name or active ingredient in the same field

      • Select the relevant drug from the list. See below on writing an extemporaneous prescription

    • Write Extemporaneous/Custom Preparation

      • Select Custom

      • Check Extemporaneous​

      • If you have saved the prescription as a custom drug, you may search for it using the list

      • Otherwise input the Generic Name, Form, Strength and Route of Administration, as well as select a PBS code if relevant. These fields need to be correctly formatted.

Fill additional prescription fields

Check the route of administration is correct, add patient instructions and any Authority Code along with any other fields you would like to include and click Add Medication.

Similar to a written prescription, certain medications, like S8 drugs, require additional mandatory fields. These fields will be automatically appear for you to complete depending on the drug, and you will not be able to proceed without filling in mandatory fields for prescribed drugs

Send prescription

ℹ️ If you wish to writet the prescription but send it at a later date, choose the print option and you or an appropriate admin can then reissue the prescription.

  1. Verify your patient's contact details

  2. Choose SMS, Email, or Print

  3. Review The Prescription and Click Confirm If Correct

  4. You will see a loading screen, once Prescription created successfully appears, your prescription has been successfully created
