How to use the "Send to Pharmacy" Option?
Updated over 2 weeks ago

When prescribing medication, you may notice the "Send to Pharmacy" option on the prescription page. Using this option will ensure a script is generated but not automatically sent to the patient. Instead, it allows you to manage how the prescription is handled by the pharmacy.

Once the script is generated, you can use the reissue script function to generate a copy of the prescription token that you can email to the pharmacy.

Explanation of Pharmacy Options

When selecting "Send to Pharmacy," you will see three options in the dropdown. Using this option restricts the prescription to only be redeemed at the specified pharmacy.

Dosing Point

Use this option for medications that require administration at a specific location to ensure proper adherence and supervision (e.g. Opioid replacement therapy).

Repeats on File

Select this option when you want the pharmacy to store prescription repeats directly. This ensures that only the specified pharmacy can dispense the repeats, preventing the patient from filling them elsewhere, and could be useful if you want a specific pharmacy to create webster packs for your patients

Staged Supply

This option is for PBS medicines that need to be dispensed in instalments. It is commonly used for patients at risk of drug dependency or those who require assistance managing their medication. The pharmacy keeps the prescription on record but does not include it in the Active Script List.
