What is the Active Script List (ASL)?
The Active Script List (ASL) is a secure digital record of all active prescriptions for a patient. It enables pharmacies and prescribers to access scripts electronically, reducing reliance on paper and improving convenience for patients.
Can I Stop a Script from Uploading to My Script List (MySL) in Parchment?
Yes. If you do not want a prescription added to the patient’s Active Script List (MySL), simply click the “Do Not Upload to MySL” button before finalising the prescription in Parchment.
This ensures:
The script is issued electronically but not added to the patient’s Active Script List.
The patient still receives their eScript token for dispensing.
How Does My Health Record Work with Prescriptions?
My Health Record is Australia’s national digital health system. It stores health information, including prescription and dispense records. However, what gets uploaded depends on the type of prescription and pharmacy settings.
PBS Prescriptions
Automatic upload: PBS scripts generate claim data via Services Australia.
Always visible: These records appear in My Health Record regardless of pharmacy preferences.
Can I Stop a PBS Script from Uploading to My Health Record in Parchment?
No. PBS prescriptions are automatically uploaded to My Health Record via Services Australia. This process cannot be overridden in Parchment or by the prescriber.
However, patients can manage their own record:
Delete individual prescription documents from My Health Record.
Hide documents if they prefer not to share them.
Restrict documents to certain people only.
Private Prescriptions
No automatic upload: Private scripts do not create PBS claim data.
Pharmacy-controlled upload: They only appear if the pharmacy uploads the dispense record through its dispensing software.
Opt-out option: Pharmacies can untick a checkbox to prevent upload if the patient requests.
Can I Stop a Private Script from Uploading to My Health Record in Parchment?
No. Private prescription uploads are controlled by the dispensing pharmacy, not by Parchment or the prescriber.
What you can do:
Advise the patient to request the pharmacy not to upload the dispense record.
Add a note in the “Doctor Instructions” section of the prescription to reinforce the patient’s preference.
Can Patients Remove Data or Cancel My Health Record?
Yes. Patients can:
Delete individual prescription documents from My Health Record.
Hide documents if they prefer not to share them.
Restrict documents to certain people only.
Cancel their My Health Record entirely at any time.
