About Your HPI-O
Your organisation needs a Healthcare Provider Identifier-Organisation (HPI-O) to access electronic prescribing. A HPI-O is a unique number that identifies your organisation in the HI Service.
When you register a seed organisation in the HI Service and My Health Record, you will be assigned as the responsible officer (RO) and organisation maintenance officer (OMO). Only the RO can register a seed organisation because it’s the primary organisation. You can add additional OMOs after registering your organisation to assist with management.
Registering for a new HPI-O
ℹ️ If you are setting up a brand new HPI-O for your practice, your organisation type is likely a a Seed Organisation.

If the registered officer is not a healthcare provider, In order to finalise your HPI-O application, you may need to upload a "certified document" proving they work for you, either a contract of employment or else a statutory declaration.
This will require a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or justice of the peace to write on the document. Without all of the information below, you may be asked to resubmit it.
Copy: I confirm this is a true copy of the original document which I have sited
Their Full Name
Their credentials (i.e. Nurse, Pharmacist)
Their qualifying number (i.e. AHPRA)
Their Signature
The Date of Signature
⚠️ If you cannot see the options you need to link a health identifier number to your PRODA account. Any practitioner with an HPI-I can do this, otherwise, go to Services Australia for more information, it's easiest too call them on 132 150 (option 2).
Log in to HPOS through PRODA.
Select My Programs
Select Healthcare Identifiers and My Health Record
Select Healthcare Identifiers - Register Seed Organisation
Enter Your ABN > Apply Now
Enter Your Business Details & Practice Type > Next
Finalise Your Details > Next
Add an Organisational Maintenance Officer. This should be a Prescriber if you yourself are not a Prescriber

Click Submit
Once they process your request, they will send the outcome to your HPOS inbox. This will include your HPI-O or a request for further information.
Receiving request for further information
You may receive an email requesting further information.
You will need to log in to PRODA and view this information in messages which can be accessed by clicking the hamburger menu in the top left corner, and then clicking messages
Confirmation Timeline
Confirmation can take from immediately to a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, we cannot speed up this process.
How to find my HPI-O in PRODA?
⚠️ To find your HPI-O you should have first set up a PRODA account. If you have assigned a delegate, they can also find this for you.
Log in to your PRODA account.
Navigate to the "My programs" section.
Choose "Healthcare Identifiers and My Health Record".
Go to "Healthcare Identifiers - Manage existing Records".
Click on "Search HI provider directory service for organisation".
Enter the organisation’s name, state, and country, then click "search".
If the organisation isn’t listed, use "Refine search" and enter any additional details you have.
Once you have your HPI-O, you need to link it to Parchment in PRODA.
Receiving Error when inputting HPI-O into Parchment
If you are receiving an error, check your HPI-O is correct. If so, you likely need to link Parchment to your HPI-O in PRODA
Link my HPI-O To Parchment's CSP in PRODA
⚠️ To link your HPI-O to our CSP, you must be either the Responsible Officer or Organisational Management Officer.
Log into PRODA
Click "Go to Service" on the HPOS tile, proceeding as an individual.
Navigate to "My Programs" and select "Healthcare Identifiers and My Health Record."
Choose "Healthcare Identifiers - Manage existing Records"
Select "My Organisation Details"
Select the correct organisation if managing multiple entities, then access the "CSP Links" tab.
Click "Manage CSP links"
Input Parchment's 16-digit CSP number (8003637500097372) and click Submit
Confirm Parchment's name is correct and click confirm. Your CSP is now linked!
