How to change or set up other authentication methods/passwords

Updated today

Parchment uses passwordless logins which seem daunting but are the most secure and fastest way to login to your account. Most modern web browsers have password management, or you can use an add on like 1Password that works across multiple devices. We use 1Password in the demo below.

To set up passwords on common web browsers:

Setting Up Other Authentication Methods

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Manage Authenticators

  2. You will need to re-authenticate prior to accessing this setting, we are using a passkey and 1Password here

  3. You then have options for your other authentication methods, we will set up an authentication code. Firstly, click the authentication method you want to set up

  4. It will then ask you to enter the code into your authenticator app – some sync across your phone, but we recommend setting this up on a web browser so you can access it where you prescribe most

Setting Default Authentication Method

  1. Click on your enabled method

  2. Click Set As Default

  3. In this example, you now sign in and validate with an authenticator app and your email automatically
