How to look up a patient on PRODA?

The "Find a Patient" service in HPOS allows you to verify patient details, including Medicare card numbers, DVA numbers, and concessional eligibility. You can confirm your patient's details using HPOS in the following situations:

  • When your patient presents their Medicare or Veteran card.

  • If your patient has given consent for the search for claiming purposes but does not have a Medicare or Veteran card.

Steps

⚠️ Someone (i.e. a Practice Manager) may do this on a Provider's behalf if they have requested delegation access

  1. Log in to HPOS using your PRODA account.

  2. Select the Find A Patient Service from the main menu.

  3. Choose the search type based on the information you have:

    • For Medicare & Veteran details, select the Medicare option from the drop-down menu and Medicare Details

    • If no Medicare details are available, you may select the Medicare Option and search using your Patient's Name and Date of Birth.

  4. Enter your patient’s details, such as their name and date of birth.

  5. Review the results to confirm the correct patient information.

  6. Select ‘Next’ to view the patient’s profile.
